The other and oneself, the truth revealed

The other and oneself the truth revealed

The Vieux-Colombier theater of the Comédie Française presents a play inspired by the film “Théorème”, the book and film by Pier Paolo Pasolini presented in 1968 at the Venice Film Festival. A story that immerses us in the torments of a bourgeois family.

It’s a family story. A bourgeois family, which is used to meeting around the grandmother in a superb architect’s house on the shores of the Mediterranean. One day, a boy whom the grandmother met on the beach enters the house. A stranger who – as Molière’s Dom Juan says ” feels a heart to love all the earth “. By awakening the desire buried within all members of this family, the boy in question will explode the veneer, crack social conventions, and awaken and reveal the buried truth of each character.

With the Troupe of the Comédie Française, Amine Adjina And Emilie Prevosteau celebrate the emancipatory power of art in all its forms, and question today’s world, that of individualism, global warming, class relations and the rise of the extreme right.

Theorem/ I feel a heart to love all the earth is to be applauded at the Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier until May 11.

Amine Adjina, Emilie Prevosteau, Mary Oppert And Claina Clavaron are guests of VMDN.
