The adventure series remakes a classic children’s book
Ronja Robber’s Daughter is based on that Children’s book of the same name by Astrid Lindgrenwhich was originally published in Swedish in 1981. The story mixes childlike adventure, Romeo and Juliet motifs and fantastic touches.
In medieval Sweden, Ronja (Kerstin Linden), the daughter of the notorious robber captain Mattis (Christopher Wagelin), grows up in an impregnable castle. While her father protects her, her mother Lovis (Krista Kosonen) teaches her independence and courage.
Ronja loves adventure and explores the dangerous forest. She meets Birk (Jack Bergenholtz Henriksson), the son of the rival robber captain Borka (Sverrir Gudnason). Despite her father’s ban A friendship develops between the two children.
Lisa James-Larsson directed all six episodes of Season 1. The filmmaker was previously involved in Netflix’s fantasy series Fate: The Winx Saga, among others.
