Pascal Buchs, the long-time orienteer of Tampere Pyrinnö, passed away in an accident.
A Swiss who represented the Tampere Purintö in orienteering Pascal Buchs has passed away accidentally in his home country. Buchs and another person were skiing in the Valais Alps on Friday when the avalanche hit.
27-year-old Buchs was buried under the snow. The rescue personnel who came to the scene by helicopter tried to revive the man. However, Buchs died in the hospital.
Buchs’ death was confirmed to Urheilu from Pyrinnö’s orienteering division. The Swiss competed in the club for ten years.
He represented Pyrintö in the traditional Jukola relay between 2016 and 2024. Buchs has also represented the Swiss national team.
Earlier this week, a Swiss snowboarder Sophie Hediger got caught in an avalanche. 26-year-old Hediger twice reached the top three in the World Cup last season.
