Despite mineral resources of around four billion tonnes that have not yet been taken up from the mines in Svappavaara, Malmberget and Kiruna, LKAB continues the hunt for more ore deposits. A custom-built invention reads the landscape from the air.
– What we do is measure the management ability. We don’t know exactly what it is, but we see the pattern of the minerals so we know exactly where to drill, says Adrian Møch.
The method gives an overview of the area and when the measurement is finished, you should have scanned 400 miles which will later be analyzed for the next step in the process.
