The opposition press release indicates that, in the Prime Minister’s decree, the word sovereign has disappeared, whereas since the beginning of the transition, the inclusive and sovereign characteristics of the dialogue have been at the center of the demands. Which questions the sincerity of the transitional military council which did not want to consecrate the sovereign nature of the dialogue, yet promised by the head of the ruling junta, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno on December 31, 2021.

For the signatories of the press release, as long as the conditions for fair and balanced participation are not met, the launch of the dialogue on August 20 must be prevented by the population and the international community, which has made commitments for a transition that involves all components of Chadian society. Addressing the African Union in particular, the Chadian opposition writes: We hope that our continental organization will not take the historic responsibility of seeing the situation fall apart in Chad without taking action. “.
