The Yewwi Askan Wi list, a coalition created around Ousmane Sonko and Khalifa Sall, risks being challenged for non-respect of parity. The mayor of Dakar, Barthélémy Dias, denounced a ” conspiracy “. The stakes are high: seven parliamentary seats (out of 165) are at stake, in a department where Yewwi Askan Wi won clear victories in the last local elections.

The Directorate General of Elections (DGE) refused, on the morning of Monday, May 16, to modify the Yewwi Askan Wi list filed last week for the department of Dakar. According to the representative of the coalition, Déthié Fall who tried to assert ” disclaimers », the DGE declared itself « incompetent “.
On the list that circulated on social networks, there are seven candidates, including only two women, which therefore goes against the law on parity. So what happened? Clumsiness or sabotage?
According to Déthié Fall, this is not the list that was drawn up at the start: “ We had given instructions to Saliou Sarr by giving him my stamp so that he could take care of the filing of the list “, he assures, and the person concerned – a relative of Khalifa Sall – would have been ” lead into error by officers of the Directorate General of Elections.
In a statement, Saliou Sarr denounced ” false allegations “. For the moment, no comments from Khalifa Sall or Ousmane Sonko on this case.
