The operator is launching a new collaborative portal, Orange Cybersecure, which allows any Internet user to check if a link is malicious. You will no longer be fooled by phishing attempts!

“Amendes.gouv: you have an unpaid parking fine”, “Chronopost: your package is held in a sorting center. For fast delivery, please pay the necessary fees via this link”, “To receive your new Vitale card, thank you to update your personal data”. Not a week goes by without us receiving SMS or emails of this type, crude phishing attempts intended to steal our personal and banking data.

The problem is that the French do not always know how to analyze the reliability or fraudulent nature of digital communications. The proof: in 2023, 280,000 requests for assistance were recorded on the cybermalveillance.gouv.fr site, including 38% for phishing. Also, in this atmosphere of permanent threat, it is hardly surprising that only 15% of them feel well protected with regard to digital risk.

In this context, Internet service providers are the first line of defense against threats. Also, from June 6, Orange is launching the Orange Cybersecure participatory portal, which will allow everyone to check if a link is malicious. It will be accessible to everyone, whether you are a customer or not.

Orange Cybersecure: a link verification engine for everyone

The principle of Orange Cybersecure is simple: if we receive a suspicious message, whether it allegedly comes from Netflix, the tax authorities, a carrier, our bank or our operator, all we need to do is copy/paste the text SMS, email or the link contained at the address cybersecurite.orange.fr to find out if it is fraudulent or not.

“If the link is already known, the response is instantaneous. If it is unknown, Orange Cyberdefense experts will quickly check the reliability and add the result to its database to continuously enrich it”, explains Orange in its press release. Hence the community and participatory nature of the portal, which takes up the principle of Waze: the more users who use it, the more efficient the engine will be.

Orange Cybersecure Pack: digital security for 7 euros

This is not the only solution offered by the operator. The latter has also set up a paid offer, the Orange Cybersecure pack, this time only intended for Orange and Sosh customers. For 7 euros per month, they will be able to secure up to 10 devices in their household (computers, mobiles, tablets) against malicious messages such as Internet scams, viruses, fraudulent sites, identity theft, etc. Note that, unlike traditional antiviruses, the operator’s tool does not require manual updates to stay up to date, but is continuously enriched through automatic updates.

This pack also includes solutions to block unwanted mobile and landline calls. In addition, customers benefit from the assistance of cybersecurity specialists to help them seven days a week in the event of doubt about the reliability of a site or application, data hacking, proven fraud, difficulties in installation or for any other questions. A real plus for the less tech-savvy! Note that this new pack will be included at no additional cost for Livebox Max subscribers.
