The only DC hero with a future returns in the

Dwayne Johnson’s DC blockbuster Black Adam cost about twice as much as Shazam!, but still didn’t gross as much as teenage Billy Batson’s Asher Angel debut. That might be one of the reasons why Shazam has been relatively quiet during the current DC restructuring.

In March, however, the magical superhero must prove he’s memorable for superhero audiences – and deserves a future in the new DC Universe. Then Shazam 2 starts: Fury of the Gods, for which a new trailer was released today.

What is the Shazam sequel about?

The official plot description for Shazam 2 is as follows:

Armed with the power of the gods, Billy Batson and the other foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with their adult superhero alter egos. But as the Daughters of Atlasa vengeful trio of ancient gods, come to earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy – aka Shazam – and his family are thrown into a battle for their superpowers, their lives and the fate of humanity .When will Shazam 2: Fury of the Gods be in cinemas?

Shazam 2: Fury of the Gods launches on March 16, 2023 in German cinemas. Zachary Levi (Shazam) and Asher Angel (Billy) return in their roles. The daughters of Atlas are new to the ensemble: Helen Mirren (The Queen) plays Hespera, Lucy Liu (Kill Bill) takes on the role of Kalypso and Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) plays Athena. Directed again by David F. Sandberg.
