The Olympic Games committee has published an impact study estimating the economic benefits for France at 9 billion euros, spread across three sectors: construction, organization and tourism. Indeed, if we stick to the Choose Paris Region figures, the Olympic Games are off to an encouraging start with a 20% increase in tourist numbers over one year. However, retailers are reporting a drop in their turnover and are lamenting the absence of tourists. Are these Games synonymous with benefits for France?
