From acclaimed writer/director/producer Todd Phillips, “Joker: The End of the World” is the highly anticipated sequel to 2019’s Academy Award-winning “Joker,” which grossed more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office and remains the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time. The new film stars Joaquin Phoenix as Oscar winner Arthur Fleck/Joker, opposite Oscar winner Lady Gaga (“A Star Is Born”). “Joker: The End of the World” begins with Arthur Fleck locked up in Arkham Asylum, awaiting trial for his crimes as the Joker. As Arthur struggles with his dual identity, he not only finds true love, but also the music that has always been inside him. The film also stars Oscar nominees Brendan Gleeson (“The Banshees of Inisherin”) and Catherine Keener (“Get Out,” “Capote”), as well as Zazie Beetz, who reprises her role from “Joker.”

Phillips, who was nominated for an Oscar for his direction, writing and producing of “Joker,” created “Joker: Double Madness” from a screenplay by Oscar nominee Scott Silver & Phillips based on the DC characters. The film is produced by Phillips, Oscar nominee Emma Tillinger Koskoff and Joseph Garner.
The film’s executive producers are Michael E. Uslan, Georgia Kacandes, Silver, Mark Friedberg and Jason Ruder. Working with Phillips behind the scenes, the “Joker” team includes Oscar-nominated director of photography Lawrence Sher, production designer Mark Friedberg, Oscar-nominated editor Jeff Groth and composer Hildur Guđnadóttir, who won an Oscar for her work on the first film.
New to the team is Oscar-nominated costume designer Arianne Phillips (“Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood,” “Don’t Worry Darling”). Ruder is the film’s executive music producer, with music supervisors Randall Poster and George Drakoulias. Casting was done by Francine Maisler (“Dune” films, “Challengers”).
