the official list of candidates for the 2nd round

LEGISLATIVE CANDIDATES. The list of candidates for the 2nd round of the 2022 legislative elections has been unveiled by the Ministry of the Interior. Find out who is officially a candidate in your constituency…

[Mis à jour le 16 juin 2022 à 12h18] The list of candidates for the second round of the legislative elections is now known. The Ministry of the Interior validated this Wednesday the applications submitted among the qualified in the first round. Some 1,100 contenders in total (up from almost 6,300 in the first round) will face off in just over 570 constituencies, mostly in duels.

You should know that a candidate who has met the conditions to qualify in the first round (arriving among the first two in the first round or in third position, but with 12.5% of those registered) is not automatically a candidate in fine for the second round. Several withdrawals have been announced, here and there during the inter-round campaign which began on Monday. In one of the 8 triangles announced, in the 1st constituency of Lot-et-Garonne, the candidate of Nupes thus withdrew to block the National Rally. Other withdrawals took place in a handful of constituencies, turning the election into a single ballot on Sunday. This is the case for example of the 11th district of Seine-Saint-Denis where the Nupes Clémentine Autain remains alone in the running, the DVG Virginie de Carvalho having preferred to throw in the towel.

Candidates wishing to remain had until Tuesday, June 14 at 6 p.m. to resubmit their candidacy for this second round.

Legislative elections concern the whole of France, but take the form of 577 elections in total, in 577 constituencies. These are numbered by department and vary according to population: from a single constituency for the less populated departments such as Creuse, up to 21 constituencies for the much denser Nord department. This map gives access to the list of constituencies for each department.

In Paris and other big cities like Toulouse or Nice, the legislative elections bend to a particular configuration. The largest communes are in fact themselves divided into several constituencies. Several candidates are therefore in the running in each of these cities, even if the voters will ultimately only have two or three ballots in their polling stations during the second round. (Almost) everyone can stand for parliamentary elections. It is mandatory, first of all, to be of legal age. And it is already far too late if you wish to apply: for the first round, the declarations of candidacy had to be submitted from Monday May 16 to Friday May 20, 2022. For the second round, the submission of applications – for the qualified – was possible only on June 13 and 14, 2022.
