The South Korean Ministry of Security reports that 12 people have died in the Uiseong area and four people have died in the Sancheong area.

The fires have destroyed residential buildings, factory buildings, vehicles and a Buddhist temple about 1,300 years old.
According to the ministry, strong winds and drought will continue in the area on Wednesday.
In the Uiseong area, the fires that originated on Saturday have not yet been controlled. Almost 9,000 rescue workers and over 130 helicopters are involved in extinguishing work.
South Korean President Han Duck-Soo says that fifth day off -road fires have caused unprecedented destruction. He promised that all available national resources would be sent to the extinguishing work.
Han added that US troops in South Korea have assisted in extinguishing work.
Last weekend, the Ministry of the Interior declared a state of emergency to southeast of the country due to wildfires.
