A sexually transmitted disease known as Trichomonas vaginalis (TV) is spreading dramatically in the UK. The British press stated that the most common sexually transmitted disease in the country is gonorrhea, which is popularly known as gonorrhea.
MAY CAUSE COMPLICATIONS IN PREGNANT WOMEN
Said infection increased dramatically among women from ethnically diverse backgrounds. Health officials are concerned that it may increase the risk of HIV and cause complications in pregnant women.
The most important feature of Trichomonas vaginalis (TV) disease that distinguishes it from other sexually transmitted diseases is that it does not show any symptoms. However, as with other sexually transmitted diseases, it can cause serious complications if left untreated.
Speaking on the subject, Dr. John White stated that this infection can progress unnoticed for years, especially in women.
TRICHOMONAS VAGINALIS SYMPTOMS
Symptoms of Trichomonas vaginalis (TV) disease may occur differently in men and women.
Symptoms seen in women are:
- abnormal vaginal discharge
- More odorous discharge than usual
- Pain, swelling and itching around the vagina
- Pain or discomfort when urinating or during sexual intercourse.
In men, it can also cause the following symptoms:
- pain when urinating or ejaculating
- needing to urinate more often than usual
- Thin, white discharge from the penis
- Pain, swelling and redness around the glans penis or foreskin.
Experts recommend that those who have an active sexual life and experience these symptoms should consult a doctor as soon as possible.
