Priapism, known as painful erection, can be quite dangerous for men’s health. According to research conducted in the UK, the number of men experiencing painful erections is increasing. Experts blame the abuse of legal drugs like Viagra for an increase in cases of priapism, sometimes lasting for hours, as a result of blood being trapped in the penis.
IT CAN CAUSE PERMANENT PROBLEMS IF NOT TREATED
“If the condition is left untreated, it can lead to scarring and permanent erectile dysfunction,” said the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV. Medication, ice packs, and surgery may be used to try to treat the condition. Nuno Albuquerque, from the Addiction Treatment Group UK, said: “Using substances such as cocaine can lead to increased sex drive and decreased inhibition, leading to risky behavior and poor decision making.
