Announced in March 2023, LEGO 2K Drive is already available for sale this Friday, May 19, 2023. The promotional campaign was short, it is true, and the release of the game was somewhat overshadowed by a certain Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, which monopolizes all the attention since its release. But what about the first game resulting from the collaboration between 2K Games and LEGO? By going to the Metacritic site, we see that the game comes out with a score of 74%, an average based on 32 reviews that have been listed. A correct note, nothing more, especially since it is about to be cataloged in the good games, since the Metascore displayed is yellow. Looking closer, there are disparities, with some media deeming the game very good, while others have dismissed it outright. Opinions therefore diverge, and here is an extract of the scores obtained in the world, while waiting for our test.

Screen Rating: 9/10
LEGO 2K Drive might not be a serious adventure title, but it’s definitely a must-have experience for anyone looking to have a good time.

Well Played: 9/10
LEGO 2K Drive tears up the tarmac with its confident identity and beautiful worlds, delivering one of the most fun arcade racing games in modern history.

Game Spew: 9/10
It’s safe to say that 2K and Visual Concepts knocked the ball out of the park with LEGO 2K Drive. We haven’t had this much fun with an open-world racing game since Forza Horizon 4. The racing action is tense and chaotic, the open worlds are a joy to explore, and everything is so varied. Everything is pretty much awesome when it comes to LEGO 2K Drive, making for fun play for all ages and skill levels. And the coup de grace is the vehicle builder, allowing you to let your imagination run wild.

Atomix: 8.3/10
With very clear ideas and very well done execution, LEGO 2K Drive brings a refresh for LEGO games. A wonderful racing game ideal for any type of player and of course, designed for the most hardcore fans of construction toys.

Game Inform: 8/10
Lego 2K Drive builds an incredibly inviting world where speed and silliness reign supreme as you race and transform in its delightfully destructible setting. Despite a frustrating mission design and a handful of bugs, Lego 2K Drive quickly won me over with its absurd narrative full of irreverent dialogue and more complicated open-world challenges. If only the specter of microtransactions didn’t appear so large in this kid-friendly game, it would make driving even smoother.

FCV: 8/10
Lego 2K Drive is an excellent open-world racing game with an infectious sense of humor and awesome customization options. As long as you can deal with Grindy 2K’s typical microtransactions and take steps to avoid its major problem of erasing saves on launch, it’s worth playing.

Hey Poor Player: 8/10
Sometimes, as a gamer, you yearn for a game you can just let loose with. That inner child wants to get some fresh air once in a while, and LEGO 2K Drive is there for that. Not everyone will be there for the many hammy puns and dialogues, but I think anyone who picks this up won’t be disappointed with the classic fun of messing around with a LEGO vat. Although the Vehicle Editor has a slightly blurry camera and seems to be missing a few parts, it’s still so sturdy when it comes to bringing those childhood fantasies of racing your custom LEGO car to life that it can be easily forgiven. It’s just a shame the same can’t be said for the blatant microtransactions that are about as painful as stepping on a LEGO. Still, if you’ve got a taste for arcade racers and a love for LEGO, or maybe you’re looking for a great first racing game for kids, you can’t go wrong stopping by the LEGO 2K Drive booth. .

Everyeye.it: 7.5/10

We had a lot of fun playing LEGO 2K Drive. It’s an interesting experiment, with a lot of potential, but also with some limitations. The light tone and not exactly prohibitive level of challenge make it a title suitable for all ages and ideal for playing in company (also given the support for local multiplayer). The vehicle editor is the real back-up material for an imperfect and sometimes chaotic production, but full of style, which manages to position itself more than worthily in a segment of the market where competition is merciless.

4Players.de: 7.3/10
Fun open-world kart game that excels at chaotic racing but is held back by microtransactions.

Twinfinite: 7/10
Lego 2K Drive is a neat little racing game with probably the coolest car building tools I’ve ever come across. Although I’m unable to craft anything more than the most rudimentary vehicle, there will be some amazing creations in the game soon. realistic for bricks on wheels.

Destructoid: 6.5/10

It’s when I go back to story mode that I’m reminded that these worlds are pretty basic, the monetization is questionable, and there just isn’t enough content yet.

Metro Game Central: 6/10
The aggressive microtransactions come as no surprise, but the tedious open-world structure obscures what is a surprisingly nuanced and technical arcade racer.

Guardian: 6/10
If you have young children and want to share with them the thrill of driving through wild and fantastical scenery, crashing into things and getting constant positive feedback, this would be a wise investment. It’s a game with a lot of heart, made by developers who clearly understand how to make kids smile while they play.

GamersRD: 4/10
LEGO 2K Drive is not at the level of a LEGO game, it seems very empty and boring after a few hours. Sound and graphics could be better, also not one of all PS5 tech in a decent way. It doesn’t feel like an original game, the most valuable thing in the game is the multiplayer mode but it’s not enough to cover all the bad things the game has.
