After more than 10 years of waiting, Dead Island 2 is finally a reality. Deep Silver’s game will certainly arrive on April 21, but the media have had the green light from the publisher to release their final opinion on a title that will have known many adventures before seeing the light of day. By going to Metacritic, we see a score of 75% in its PS5 version, average obtained on 32 reviews listed at the time of writing these lines. If everyone agrees that the game is quite pleasant to watch, it’s more on the gameplay side where it’s half figure and half reason. Many criticize the game for a too basic structure, with movements that are a little too slow. However, everything is compensated by an undisguised pleasure of smashing zombies in a thousand and one different ways, with this rather fun dismemberment system. Still, the game is repetitive but the LA satire can balance things out. While waiting for our verdict which will fall this evening or tomorrow morning, here is the opinion of the colleagues.

God is a Geek: 8.5/10
While it suffers from some interesting issues, Dead Island 2 puts some much-needed fun and mayhem back into the zombie apocalypse sandbox.

COG connected: 8.4/10
Dead Island 2 is gory and gruesome, with ridiculously entertaining action. It has just enough storytelling and social satire to push the game forward, and enough depth, systems, and mechanics to make slaying thousands of zombies appealing for its substantial runtime. Dead Island 2 might not be the deepest pool in Bel Air, but playing it has been the most creative and spookiest fun I’ve had with a shooter in quite some time.

Player2: 8.3/10
A deliciously gory surprise, Dead Island 2 rises above its hellish development to deliver the kind of comedy horror rarely seen in the industry. It doesn’t break the mould, but it does deliver pure campy, blood-soaked glee from start to finish.

Screen Rating: 8/10
Dead Island 2 turns out to be a totally fleshed out and fully realized version of what Dead Island can be with modern mechanics and gameplay.

Twinfinite: 8/10
Dead Island 2 should serve as a shining example for both games emerging from development hell and sequels with a huge time gap. I’m sure part of my love for the original is due to nostalgia, and I could probably never go back to it. But every time I’ve thought about the first game in my head over the past decade, Dead Island 2 is absolutely the game I imagined. If only more sequels could be done so expertly.

FCV: 8/10
The best games ask important questions. In the case of Dead Island 2, that question is, “Do you think it’s fun to cut zombies into pieces?” If the answer is yes, then Dead Island 2 is a joy.

JV: 16/20
Dead Island 2 does not revolutionize the saga or the survival game, but provides the essentials. Dambuster Studios offers fans of zombie survivalism a bloody and sunny journey to the heart of a red-painted City of Angels. Mutilating the emaciated has never been so brutal and the pleasure felt so visceral. This FPS is not perfect, far from it, and suffers from a certain repetitiveness that it tries to erase with undeniable generosity. The Dead Island franchise is well and truly back, a resounding return through the front door!

Gamer Gen: 16/20
Dead Island 2 is a well-thought-out playground, fun as it is, betting everything on its gameplay which happens to be very fun and varied thanks to the weapons and the environment. A FPS mostly stabbing gory and violent, often a bit silly, but working from start to finish thanks to a few good ideas.

Game Informer: 7.8/10
This game won’t stay with me for long, but I’m not sure it will. With Dead Island 2, Dambuster Studios asks little of the player – only that you enjoy a good excuse to slay zombies in increasingly bloody ways for a weekend or two – and in doing so, it delivers on the promise of that. what is this series. .

Destructoid: 7.5/10
And yet, with Dead Island 2, Dambuster Studios has delivered a sequel that vastly improves on the maligned original.

IGN: 7/10
Dead Island 2 is a hilarious festival of gore and a competent zombie-slaying adventure, but lacks creativity aside from its great sense of humor.

Push Square: 7/10
Ultimately, though, Dead Island 2 is a refreshing surprise in the middle of the 2023 release slate. boring, but more than makes up for it with its killer setting, brutal melee combat, and stunning graphics. While we suspect some will be disappointed with the size of the game after all these years, we found it quite revitalizing to find a AAA experience that respects your time and, more importantly, doesn’t overstay its welcome. In the age of 300-hour RPGs, it’s good to know that some games are there for fun, not for long.

Gamepressure: 7/10
Dead Island 2’s witty lines, weapon system, and combat customization options save it from obscurity, but let’s hope the next installment offers a lot more variety and creativity to rival the other zombie titles out there. do it better.

GameWatcher: 7/10
Dead Island 2’s visceral combat can effortlessly draw you into the zone as you slash, shoot, and kick zombies while ensuring they head for the afterlife with fewer limbs attached. A simple yet effective upgrade system gives you the means to counter any foe, while its varied arsenal of melee and ranged weapons keeps things interesting for quite a while. Repetition inevitably sets in long before you roll any credits, reflected in both its uninspired mission objectives and the way you take down opponents. Its rambling and confusing narrative doesn’t do it any favors either, but, as long as you’re focused on killing zombies, there’s definitely some fun to be had here.

Video Gamer: 7/10
Dead Island 2 is Dying Light 2’s loud, noisy and vibrant cousin, with a meaty combat system, insufferable characters and a much smaller but densely populated world.

Well Played: 7/10
Dead Island 2 is quite the bloodthirsty zombie slayer it wants to be. But as enjoyable and solid as it is, the repeating issues and gameplay loop prevent it from being the game it might have been.

CD-Action: 7/10
Dead Island 2 doesn’t pretend to be anything more than a simple video game, even for a moment. Every element of it, from the bland story to the environments, is meant to make head-smashing zombies fun. The problem is that after a few hours, that fun starts to give way to repetitiveness.

Gameblog: 6/10
Dead Island 2 takes us on a two-speed adventure. The first half of the game doesn’t really shine. It turns out to be tedious because of its monotonous rhythm, and not folichones quests in uninspired settings. Fortunately, we take advantage of the game more and more when our arsenal and our skills expand during the second part of the adventure. The game offers very good moments of action and several areas are really pleasant to go through. The scenario ends up revealing its potential, even if it does not give itself the means to reach heights because of its expeditious finale. In the end, Dead Island 2 knows how to be fun, not over the entire epic, but in more or less dense sequences. It’s already not bad for a title that we thought a while ago, would never see the light of day.

Digital Trends: 6/10
I had as much fun here as I would have had watching a schlocky B-movie, but Dead Island 2 does little to advance the crowded (and dated) zombie genre. A disappointing narrative and general lack of creativity in mission design left me hungry for a more substantial meal. There’s a shrewd dismantling of American privilege somewhere in Dead Island’s arsenal, an advantage that may have waned with age. For the series to survive another decade, it may need to hit the grindstone and craft a point that can actually pierce skin.

Gamer.no: 6/10
Dead Island 2 is a lot of fun every now and then when played with a friend, but the game suffers from a distinct lack of meaningful story development and gameplay that feels pretty identical every once in a while.

GAMINGbible: 6/10
Where Dying Light offers slick parkour and Resident Evil gives us clever survival horror gameplay, Dead Island 2 lacks anything substantial to balance the endless waves of flesh-eating. This will no doubt satisfy your bloodlust, but it won’t be long before you crave something a little meatier.

Hey Poor Player: 6/10
Dead Island 2’s extended gestation period finally ended with a familiar sequel, eschewing the unpredictable and uncomfortable pastures of Banoi for a monstrous version of Los Angeles. Dead Island 2 will be an enjoyable game for fans of the original with its mayhem-inducing cavalcade of weapons, adrenaline-fueled wars with the undead, and cool new mods and traps to keep the zombie slaughter fresh. Before long, however, it becomes apparent that Dead Island 2 suffers from frustrating design issues, such as trapping you in an area until you’ve cleared all the undead, as well as forcing you to perform one of a few extremely tedious tasks like tracking down keys to open doors and transformers to open/close doors.

Noisy Pixel: 6/10
Dead Island 2 is all about smashing skulls and bones, but it won’t break any bloody records. At the end of the day, it’s just dumb old fun, killing zombies in a gory way with your buddies. The high asking price and frustratingly unbalanced gameplay keep me from recommending this day one purchase, but I’m confident it will one day find its bearings among its zombie slaying fans.
