Sebastian Samuelsson’s weapon failed and Sweden was far behind in the mixed relay.
But Johannes Thingnes Bö felt no sympathy.
– If you are in the game, you have to endure the game, he says.
Hopes were high for Sweden when the Biathlon World Championships began on Wednesday. The mixed relay was on the schedule, and when Sebastian Samuelsson, who ran Sweden’s fourth and last leg, came in for his first shot, Sweden had a real shot at top positions, and maybe even the gold.
New giant taunt
But then everything went wrong. Sebastian Samuelsson missed shot after shot and was forced out on three penalty rounds, and thus the day was ruined. Samuelsson was devastated after Sweden’s ninth place, and immediately thought that there must have been something wrong with the weapon. Later Wednesday night, he explained that the screw was loose in the rifle, causing the shots to go higher than he wanted.
But despite finding fault with the weapon, Samuelsson is heavily mocked by one person in particular. Samuelsson psyched out superstar Johannes Thingnes Bö before the World Cup, and once Norway won gold, he was quick to answer Samuelsson.
– It tastes good when he talks so much about me in advance. This was deserved, I want to say, says Bö to Norwegian TV2.

“Deserved”
TV2 then asked if Bö wasn’t suffering with Samuelsson, as he was so far behind, and for that reason.
– No. Or, of course a little. But if you go hard, you are in the game and may the game endure. That’s how it is for Sebbe today, and it’s sad for Sweden, says Thingnes Bö.
However, Sebastian Samuelsson does not lie down and get depressed. Although the responsibility was his, it seems, he is sure to come back stronger – and he has already said that Sweden is looking for revenge in the men’s relay, later in the championship.
