The Norwegian superstar’s crisis after Sweden’s great success in the World Cup – close to giving up: “No good thoughts”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

It was a huge Swedish success in the ladies’ distance race.
At the same time, the biggest Norwegian rival was close to giving up.
– Those were dark thoughts, says Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold.

Sweden has a successful WC and is well on its way to breaking the all-time medal record. On the men’s side, Norway has completely dominated, thanks in large part to Johannes Thingnes Bö, but on the women’s side, Sweden is in the driver’s seat.

The crisis of the star

Hanna Öberg and Linn Persson have won two medals each, and in Wednesday’s distance race there was a Swedish double at the top in the form of a gold and a silver. Norway’s biggest medal hope, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, had a really tough race, and while Sweden celebrated an incredible success, the Norwegian suffered.

Tandrevold was despondent afterwards, and was honest with how brutally despondent she was.

– I’m not sorry, I’m just incredibly angry with myself. I make mistakes I shouldn’t.

She continues:

– I feel that I can do good competitions, but then I go into the first shooting and screw myself up a bit. It was hard to go in with a good feeling. I can’t really drop all the bars.

“Not many good thoughts”

Tandrevold won bronze in the distance during the last WC, but was only eleven on Wednesday. Tandrevold says it was so bad that she thought about breaking up.

– There were not many good thoughts. There was a while when I thought about whether I should even continue, because it’s only about medals. There are no World Cup points or anything like that, she says.

However, Tandrevold continued, and has two more chances to save his WC. On Saturday there is a relay for the ladies, and the following day the whole WC ends with the mass start.

– I showed myself that I can do better after the bad start. At least it felt good, she says.
