The Norwegian superstar’s cocky pass to Calle Halfvarsson after the birthday miss: “Send him to…”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Calle Halfvarsson only got a tenth place on his birthday.
Then the winner Johannes Hösflot Kläbo sends a cocky pass.
– This is not the first time, the Norwegian tells Sportbladet.

Today turns Calle Halfvarsson 34 years. Then he wanted to give himself the very best birthday present with a successful race at home in Falun.

Halfvarsson led

The Swede also opened in record speed at the World Cup race in Sweden on Friday. In the 10 km classic, Halfvarsson went hard right from the start and led the whole race halfway through.

But then the sprinter started to slow down considerably, while the Norwegians instead picked up the pace. Calle dropped seconds all the time and was never really close to the podium as he finished in tenth place.

After the race, Halfvarsson realized what he had done wrong on his 34th birthday.
– I have little to learn these last few years. There are certain details that have to be worked out. I have often misjudged the opening speed. Today I got a little too excited thanks to the crowd cheering. But it was a bit all or nothing today, it doesn’t carry all the way, he tells Sportbladet.

Cocky fit

Kläbo, who finished early, was then able to follow Halfvarsson’s race in the results list from the first floor. After the race, the Norwegian winner sends a cocky but also heartfelt pass to the Swedish competitor.
– We have to send him on a course to Trondheim, I think. We have to teach him opening speed, then it can be scary. It’s not the first time he opens up hard, but once it lasts and the day it lasts for Calle he becomes dangerous, Kläbo admits to the evening newspaper.

This was Johannes Hösflot Kläbo’s 64th World Cup victory in his career and at only 26 years old, he is well on his way to breaking all sorts of records in cross-country skiing. Today he was extra happy to win on Swedish soil.
– It’s an arena that we all know and to bring home a Dala horse is great, says the Norwegian in the victory interview.
