“Terribly bad timing. The WC is one of the big goals for me this season, but I’ll do everything I can to be in the slalom on February 19. Give me a few weeks and we’ll see,” Braathen said in a statement .
Braathen arrived at the Norwegian national team’s meeting in Hinterreit, Austria, on Monday with increasing stomach pains. On Tuesday he underwent surgery in Zell am See and now he is expected to travel home to Norway within a short time.
“Lucas will be healthy in a few weeks. There is a small possibility that he can participate in the slalom in the World Cup,” says the alpine national team’s doctor Trond Floberghagen.
The WC will be decided in Méribel and Courchevel starting on Monday.
