Anna Magnusson surprisingly took her first victory in her career during Friday’s biathlon sprint.
Now she is celebrated by the Norwegian icon Ole Einar Bjørndalen.
– It was really fun to see. I’m still in shock, says Bjørndalen.
There was a Swedish double on the podium in Friday’s sprint in Annecy, France. But there were probably not many who thought in advance that the names that were at the top of the results list would be Anna Magnusson and Lynn Persson.
Norwegian shock
27-year-old Anna Magnusson had a super race, both on the shooting range and on the track, and in the end there was no one else who could beat her when she crossed the finish line 12.8 seconds ahead of Linn Persson. Magnusson thus collected his very first victory in his career, after having previously had seventh place as his best result.

– She ran the race of her life, says the TV 2 commentator Marius Skjelbæk.
– I didn’t have her on my list today. It was a shock, but really fun to watch. I never saw that coming. I’m still in shock, says the Norwegian TV 2 expert Ole Einar Bjørndalen.

“Sick”
– It feels completely insane actually. I didn’t think that when I woke up this morning. We had great skiing and today everything was just right. I was chocked. It’s really cool. This is what you want, to fight at the top. I am incredibly proud of my performance, says Anna Magnusson after the sensational victory.
