The Norwegian government recognized the Palestinian state Israel immediately

Ireland and Spain also say that the Palestinian state will be recognized.

The Norwegian government has recognized the state of Palestine.

Prime minister Jonas Gahr Støre said that the recognition will officially take effect on May 28. According to Støre, the Palestinian state is an absolute prerequisite for peace in the Middle East.

Ireland and Spain have also said they recognize the Palestinian state. Their recognition will also come into effect on the 28th of this month.

Prime Minister of Ireland Simon Harris says the day is historic and important for both Ireland and Palestine.

Israel, on the other hand, today invited the ambassadors of Norway and Ireland to talk about the matter. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the X message service that it had communicated to the ambassadors that it will not remain silent in the face of those who undermine Israel’s sovereignty and endanger its security.

Finland’s line has been that Finland can recognize the state of Palestine when there is a negotiated solution based on the two-state model, jointly accepted by the parties.

Senior researcher at the Foreign Policy Institute by Timo R. Stewart according to which the recognition of the Palestinian state would in practice be only a symbolic act.
