The Norwegian expert’s unexpected words about Frida Karlsson – points out the Swede after the huge crisis in Norway: “Look at her!”

Norway has its worst season in 20(!) years.
Now a Norwegian expert unexpectedly singles out Frida Karlsson.
– Look at her!, says Ernst Lersveen.

Sweden has had an absolutely fabulous season in the World Cup, but things haven’t gone as well for Norway. Since Therese Johaug ended her career, success has been conspicuous by its absence, and the fact is that this winter Norway is having its worst season in 20(!) years in terms of distance.

Great crisis

Kristine Stavå’s Skistad has certainly taken several victories in the past year, but it is in sprints. In distance, the result is all the more bleak: Zero victories and only five podium places. And with only a year left until the WC, experts and skiing enthusiasts in Norway are becoming increasingly worried.

Therese Johaug has hinted at making a comeback to the WC, which will be decided in Norway, but behind her it looks bleak.

– It’s a bit embarrassing. We brag about being the best on skis, says columnist Ernst A. Lersveen to VG.

He gets the support of former skier, and now expert, Niklas Dyrhaug.

– This season has been a big disappointment. The Norwegian ladies must join and fight for victory in every World Cup race, he says.

Points out Frida Karlsson

At the same time, many also highlight Therese Johaug as an example of why Norwegian cross-country skiing is not successful. During his career, Johaug was known for training extremely hard and extremely hard, and there were few in sports – all sports included – who had the same capacity when it came to training. And some have pointed out that many people are ashamed of it, thinking that such amount of training is not for them.

But Ernst A. Lersveen unexpectedly points out Frida Karlsson as proof that this is not the case. Instead, he believes that the Swede saw Johaug, and then did exactly what was required.

– Do those who are in the national team now have a will big enough? A desire to train as much as Johaug? They say no one can train like Johaug did, does that discourage you? But look at Frida Karlsson. I don’t think she thinks she can’t train like Johaug did, I rather think she thinks: Sure as hell I can!, says Lersveen.
