The Norwegian crown prince couple refuses to answer questions about the suspected abuse son Marius Borg Høiby. The couple held a short press conference during a visit to Trøndelag on Thursday.
– It is not right to say anything more about the matter at this time out of consideration for everyone involved, says Crown Prince Haakon.
Marius Borg Høiby has been accused of and admitted to assaulting his girlfriend. He is also being investigated for a number of other offences, including threats, vandalism, theft of an electric scooter and assaulting two former partners.
– Out of consideration for everyone involved, we do not wish to comment on this now, we hope you understand it, says Crown Princess Mette-Marit.
Marius Borg Høiby has no royal title and has chosen to live his life out of the limelight. He is Mette-Marit’s son from a previous relationship and has said in a written statement to the press that he has problems with drugs and alcohol.
At the end of August he traveled to Italy on the advice of his defense lawyer.
