William Nylander continues to receive criticism in Toronto.
Now the expert Craig Button is furious – against everyone who saw the Swede.

The Toronto Maple Leafs had hopes of finally breaking their strange, and dark, trend in the NHL playoffs. They have not missed the first playoff round in almost 20 years, and this was not the case this year either, after losing the seventh and decisive match against Tampa Bay Lightning.

And as usual, it is William Nylander who has received most of the criticism from both fans and experts. The Swede is often seen for his attitude during matches, and that he does not play physically enough, and it does not seem to matter that Nylander has been the one to score the most playoff points for the Maple Leafs in recent seasons, and that he also this series, against Tampa, stepped forward with several important points.
Despite the fact that Toronto went out several weeks ago, criticism continues to come against William Nylander. In the last week, the criticism has been about Nylander playing much more physically during the World Cup with Tre Kronor, something that many believe he lacks in the NHL. But the criticism of him is also met with opposition. TSN’s expert Craig Button has now had enough.
– To be honest, I think the criticism of him is completely unfair. I hear it all the time. But he averaged one point per game this season. If it’s not star quality, then I do not know what is it? I’ve seen him a lot, and I do not think it’s justified. It is unfair how he is treated. I do not understand what people want from him ?, he says.

At the same time, Button believes that Nylander will not change as a player – and that the criticism must be stopped, or the Maple Leafs will simply have to oust him.
– The players are as they are, and you do not want him in Toronto? Ship him then! William Nylander is one of the players on the entire planet who is the easiest to move, given his cheap contract and what a good player he is. Do you not want him? Ship him then! If you do not like him, it’s okay, or if you want a different type of player, it’s okay. But William Nylander is a terribly talented player. There are not many like him. But I am completely fascinated by how much criticism he receives, which I think is unfair, says Button, and continues:
– I’ve said it for several months, and I will not stop. It has only become one thing to criticize William Nylander in Toronto.
William Nylander often led the way for Tre Kronor during the World Cup, with several offensive tackles and with an intense style of play. But there is a difference between the World Cup and the NHL, and Button believes that Nylander is not – or should be – that type of player.
– They will not see it from him, because he is not that type of player. He is not a power-forward. It’s just bullshit, he’s not that kind of player. If you want it, you will be disappointed. And then it’s the fans and experts who are at fault, not him. He is a goal scorer, and a scorer, he says.
