Sandra Näslund has received a nightmare message.
The Swede has a crack in his tibia and will be out for up to three months. Thus, the season is over for the ski cross star.
Bad luck grins Sandra Näslund in the face. After interrupting last season for knee surgery, the 28-year-old was back in the World Cup opener in France’s Val Thorens on Thursday.
Nightmare for Näslund
It started well, when she was the fastest in the qualifier. But in the quarter-finals Näslund fell, it would later turn out badly. After examinations, it is clear that she suffered a crack in the tibia.

“The load was so great that a fracture occurred in the tibia. At the moment, the leg cannot handle her putting weight on it and Sandra needs to walk with crutches for the next six weeks to begin with. It is a broken leg that must heal fully and cope with the enormous loads skicross involves, and it takes time. Unfortunately, we expect about 10-12 weeks of absence,” says the national team doctor Jakob Swanberg in a press release from the Swedish Skiing Association.
Näslund had pain in her leg after the fall and instead of competing again the following day, she traveled home to Sweden to be examined. According to the ski association, the injury occurred because Näslund received a hard blow to the right knee in a tough exit turn.
Sandra Näslund has for several years been totally dominant in the ski cross world, with, among other things, an Olympic gold and three World Cup golds. From December 2021 to December 2023, she lined up 19 consecutive victories in the World Cup, a difficult record and four more than Ingemar Stenmark dominated during its alpine glory days.
We suffer with you, Sandra Näslund! ❤️
