The Biathlon World Cup season is just about to start, but for Linn Gestblom it seems to be over already.
Instead, continued rehabilitation awaits after the latest shoulder operation.
It will take some time before the Swedish biathlon star Linn Gestblomformerly Persson, can compete again.
Gestblom will focus primarily on training this season, writes the Swedish Biathlon Association in a press release.
“My rehabilitation is progressing steadily, but with two major operations in a short space of time, the body needs time to fully recover. In order for me to catch up with training and be completely ready, I have decided together with the medical team that I will not focus on competition this season,” says the 30-year-old.

The national team doctor Magnus Oscarsson says in the press release that the rehabilitation process is normal:
“About half a year ago, Linn had a shoulder operation that first requires healing and then building up in order to be able to perform at his maximum with a very heavy load. It’s something completely different from coming back to a regular job”.
The focus for Gestblom is the 2026 Olympics, in just under 15 months. The native of Värmland was part of the Swedish gold team in the Olympic relay in Beijing 2022. Her most successful championship was the WC 2023, when, in addition to the relay bronze, she also took both silver and bronze individually.
