Another player steps forward and accuses NHL club Chicago Blackhawks’ former video coach Brad Aldrich of sexual abuse.
The former player also accuses the club – which was fined several million for a similar case – for not having acted.
A lawsuit alleging sexual assault by the Chicago Blackhawks’ then-video coach Brad Aldrich, was filed Thursday by a law firm, reports the Chicago Tribune. The client, a former Chicago Blackhawks player, is anonymous.
The NHL acted
It is the second time in two years that Aldrich has been accused of abuse. 2021, the former player told Kyle Beach in a television interview that the video coach preyed on him as a 20-year-old and that he numbed himself with alcohol and drugs to suppress the memories.

An independent investigation then showed that several leaders in the NHL team did not act when Beach told about the abuse in 2010. This led, among other things, to Chicago’s general manager Stan Bowman resigned and later the former coach also left Joel Quenneville his current job in Florida. The NHL also fined Chicago $2 million.
Blackhawk’s response
The lawsuit filed now details similar abuses by the same executive and alleges that Chicago Blackhawks management “showed indifference and/or willful disregard for the safety of its employees including that of the anonymous player.”
The Chicago Blackhawks have stated to the newspaper that they do not want to comment on the latest lawsuit. However, the club says it takes allegations of inappropriate behavior in the workplace very seriously and points out that it investigated what happened in 2010 two years ago.
