Now the NHL Swede Jacob Peterson gives notice about the future.
And addresses the big question of a return to the SHL again.
It was in Frölunda that Jacob Peterson broke through as a youngster in the SHL. But it was with rival Färjestad that he got his big boost.
First in Frölunda
After going from J18 up to the A team at Frölunda, the forward left Gothenburg for Karlstad ahead of the 2020/21 season. Immediately came the best season of his career in the SHL and an impressive 33 points in 46 games.

It led to an NHL contract with the Dallas Stars and a debut season in the world’s best hockey league. But the last season with the San Jose Sharks was not at all what the 24-year-old had hoped for.
Peterson in the NHL
Peterson was only traded for six games in the NHL and had to spend most of the season in the AHL with 22 points in 40 games in the farm league. Already in February, the season unfortunately ended due to a shoulder injury.

Now the NHL Swede is back in Karlstad again to rehabilitate himself for the upcoming season.
– I’m not very happy, of course. My goal was to be up in the NHL the whole season and I wasn’t. There are various factors that come into play, it always is, but the goal is to be in the NHL, he tells the local newspaper NLT about the season.
SHL return?
The contract with the Sharks expires after the season and now Jacob Peterson opens up about the future.
– I have decided to stay in the USA for another year. I want to be there for a whole season and with a good and long rehab this summer it will be fun to go over again, he says in the interview.

The 24-year-old is in contact with San Jose about an extension, but he has also been in contact with Färjestad. Peterson is based in Karlstad and lives there with his girlfriend between hockey seasons.
– It is clear that they (FBK) are included in the idea. We have had little contact, mostly to check the situation, but I have been clear that I want to remain in the United States, he says to the local newspaper.
