The next STAR WARS movie that just can’t be one!

Nerd culture shows why this film from producer Zack Snyder didn’t make it into the Star Wars universe, but why exactly that might be a good thing right now.

Produced by Snyder, Rebel Moon is a space opera inspired by the Star Wars films but creates a universe all of its own.

Rebel Moon is coming to Netflix in two parts. The first part on December 22, 2023, the second will follow on April 19, 2024. The films will be PG-13, but Snyder is already planning an adult director’s cut.

What exactly is behind the connection to Star Wars, Marco explains to you in his latest video. We’ve embedded the video here for you:

In the video you will learn that Snyder originally wanted to make an R-rated version of a Star Wars film. However, this was rejected twice by Lucasfilm.

Thus was born this film, which tells the story of a peaceful colony rebelling against the Empire. This is reminiscent of classic stories like Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa.

Snyder’s wife feels the rejection was the best thing that could have happened since her husband’s hands are not now tied by an existing franchise.

This could even be the start of a trilogy. And while it’s not meant that way, Rebel Moon might feel like some kind of competition for Star Wars.
