Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on December 8 that he will run for re-election for another six years as president.
According to the Reuters news agency, opposition politician Alexei Navalny’s staff believes that a fair election cannot be held, but says it wants to encourage political debate.
The presidential election will be held on March 17, 2024.
