About 8.4 million Swedes use the Swish app to send money. After last year, it had been swiped over a billion times.
It is Swished about 2 million times daily in Sweden. But the app’s popularity has also had consequences.

Scam alerts on the rise: ‘Throw them away’
The number of fraud alerts has increased exponentially in recent years. Banks, authorities and companies have gone out and warned their customers about scam texts, fraudulent phone calls and fake emails.
One authority that, especially during declaration times, was involved with fraudsters who pretended to be from the authority was the Tax Agency. Even though the declaration times are now over, the Swedish Tax Agency issued another warning about scam text messages to the Swedish people.
“We warn of scam emails that appear to come from the Tax Agency. Do not open these emails as they may contain viruses, but throw them away immediately,” the authority wrote on its homepage.

Now the Entrepreneurs in Hylte, which is part of Sweden’s largest business organization, has issued a warning: An app that looks like the Swish app is rampant.
For P4 Halland tells Linnea Petterssonchairman of Företagarna in Hylte, that a colleague has heard about the fake Swish app.
Petterson says the fake app looks identical.
– The app is so identical that it looks like the swishers went through, she tells the channel.

About a year ago, the entrepreneurs in Hylte were cheated out of money because they thought the customer had swished. In fact, it was the fake app.
– We got rid of quite a lot of money, says Petterson the radio channel.
The app is still flourishing and Företagarna i Hylte urges entrepreneurs who use Swish to be vigilant.
Instead, Pettersson recommends a special Swish app for entrepreneurs where you can immediately see if the money has arrived.
