The new terminal in Slussen is too small: There is no room for the buses

The new terminal in Slussen is too small There is

The new, temporary bus terminal is currently being built on a pontoon next to Stadsgårdskajen, and will be put into operation in August.

Now reporting Today’s news that the new terminal is too small, and that 25 percent of the buses will not have space during rush hour.

An emergency solution

The new bus terminal is to be built to replace the current temporary terminal.

The current terminal would actually remain until the opening of the permanent terminal in Katarinaberget. However, this is delayed, and if you don’t move the buses, other parts of the Slussenbygget will also be delayed.

The pontoon itself will be used as a staging area for the buses while waiting for departure, and no passengers will thus get off there.

The new station has received criticism as it will be located a full 600 meters from the subway. They are therefore thinking about sluicing travelers from the station to the subway with a shuttle bus.

But the long distance to the subway is not the only problem, the new terminal is also too small to handle the current rush hour traffic.

In the morning rush hour, traffic is normally between 150 and 180 vehicle movements per hour, and SL estimates that around 25 percent of these must go to other locations.

– We hope and believe that it will be possible to resolve. But we will have to come back to how it turns out, says Claes Keisupress officer at SL.

The hope is that some bus routes can be rerouted to other places in the city, which, according to Claes Keisu, may mean that the city will have to make some adjustments to the street environment.
