At gamescom 2024, the developers of Dune: Awakening stated that the survival MMO should appear on PC in early 2025. Now it’s 2025 and players are asking: What now?
What is the status quo with Dune: Awakening? Funcom’s survival MMO (The Secret World, Age of Conan, Conan Exiles) has been in a closed test phase since the end of 2023. In mid-2024, the test mode switched to a persistent beta, with permanently available servers.
At the same time, the developers regularly release updates for interested players. There were also repeated interviews – at gamescom 2024, MeinMMO was also able to ask the developers questions. Those responsible also revealed during the trade fair that the game will be released for the PC in early 2025.

What do I need to know about Dune: Awakening? Dune: Awakening is the new survival MMO from Funcom. The focus is heavily on sandbox gameplay, which is intended to give you a free gaming experience. In addition, the majority of the game will have a PvP focus. PvE should primarily take the form of survival mechanics.
The MMO takes place on the planet Arrakis, the main setting for Denis Villeneuve’s two Dune films and the popular book. The desert planet is absolutely inhospitable. However, on Arrakis there is the drug Spice, in German spice or melange. This mind-expanding drug is essential to ensure the survival of people in the Dune universe.
Your first task is to get water, shade and equipment. The next step is to make your survival easier. You get resources and blueprints to make bases, armor, weapons or transporters.
