RENAULT CLIO. Here is the all-new Renault Clio. Renault has revised its look and makes its city car more aggressive with renewed seduction potential. Enough to overshadow the Peugeot 208 again?
Gone are the shyness of the beginnings, the strategy of not changing a recipe that worked… Attacked from all sides, dethroned by the Peugeot 208, the Renault Clio goes through the extreme makeover box to revive its potential seduction. Renault unveiled on April 18, 2023 the first photos of its “Clio new look”, a restyled version which adopts a much more expressive, aggressive and even sporty face in its Esprit Alpine finish. From the front, the Clio looks like a Peugeot 308 with its wide tapered grille and its vertical lighting signature, close to the “fangs” of the latest Peugeot models which adopted these very expressive LEDs.
It is not a coincidence. In addition to the fact that the design of the latest models of the French rival has won over a wide audience, these creations have been supervised by a certain Gilles Vidal, head of Peugeot design who went to “the enemy” in 2020 by joining Renault. This Clio is thus one of the first production models of the Diamond brand to have been under his supervision. It’s no secret therefore to review certain lines and main principles… The Clio stands out, however, for its sporty style with in particular a two-tone shield at the front, a brand new shield at the rear and rear lights which adopt a transparent part .
What changes inside?
Inside, the Clio, released in 2019, has aged rather well and there will therefore be no major stylistic revolution. We note all the same a rise in equipment, illustrated by the arrival of the digital instrumentation of series, however available in two sizes according to the finishes. The Esprit Alpine version has specific seats branded with the logo of the Dieppe brand and small attributes such as topstitching or tricolor logos scattered throughout the cabin. Outside, the shield takes on a matte gray color.
When will this new Clio be released?
This restyled Clio should hit the market before the end of 2023, probably in the fall with prices officially announced in June. The range should be composed of three finishes including the entry-level New Evolution, followed by Techno and a brand new finish with a sporty look, Esprit Alpine. At what price will this new Clio be sold?
Mystery still on the prices which should be formalized in June. The entry level is now at 20,400 euros and prices should not change much. The suspense will be more on the price of the Esprit Alpine finish with the 145 horsepower E-Tech Full Hybrid engine. The other engines in the range are 65 horsepower, 90 horsepower and 100 horsepower petrol units. A 100 horsepower Blue dCi diesel is retained. The top of the range is embodied by the Full Hybrid 145 horsepower block coupled to the automatic gearbox is also available (for pros and private customers alike).
