The lighter new PS5 model CFI-1200 series has been launched in Australia, according to new reports. The console is getting lighter and lighter.
Reports from Press Start show that the new PS5 model, the CFI-1200 series consoles appear to be quite light from the first version. In fact, the disc versions of the new model are even lighter than the digital version of the first version. It is also available for sale in Australia.
New PS5 model is lighter than ever
According to the user manuals, the disc version of the new CFI-1202A model weighed 3.9 kg. This shows that the console is quite light compared to the 4.5 kilograms of the disc version when it first came out. Meanwhile, the CFI-1202B digital version (the model without a disk drive) reportedly weighed 3.4 kilograms. The first version weighed 3.9 kilograms, which means that the new version will be as light as half a kilo.
The first light versions for PlayStation 5 were included in the CFI-1100 series. Looking at the launch weight of the console, we were seeing slight lightening. It seems that things will go a little further in the new CFI-1200 series, which has started to be rumored.

It is possible to say by looking at these numbers that the Disc version of the new PS5 model is equal to the launch weight of the digital version of the first model. This actually reveals how much the console has been lightened. Of course, the 2022 versions are just rumors for now.
