The new picture of William Poromaa after his first victory in the World Cup

William Poromaa won his first World Cup competition on Sunday.
Then he was in a great hurry to get home.
“Lucky you had time to change before the flight!”, he writes in an Instagram Story and shows how he sits with the competition clothes on the flight to Sweden.

It was a historic victory for William Poromaa24. He came first in the mass start in France’s Les Rousses (20 km), which was his first ever World Cup win. However, there was not much celebration after the race.

Poromaa was in a hurry to get home to Sweden

The reason it wasn’t so wild for Poromaa after the victory was that he had to stay and submit a doping test, which can be taken no earlier than two hours after the finish. As the Swede was to fly home already that evening, it became quite stressful for him.
– I had to stay and wait. The others packed my bag and left for Geneva airport. I had to take my own transport to the flight without my stuff. It gets extreme when you have to go home the same evening, says Poromaa to Sportbladet.

After the urine and blood test was completed, there was no time for William Poromaa to shower and change. He has posted a funny picture on Instagram Stories where he can be seen sleeping in an airplane seat, fully dressed in his competition suit and with a top hat on his head. The number plate was also left.
“Lucky you had time to change before the flight!”, he writes.

Got to celebrate with a shower at Arlanda

People have tanned the image well. It was cheerful of Poromaa to share the chaos after the premiership victory.
– The celebration and the reward was being able to come home to Sweden that same evening. That was what was important and mattered. The backup plan was to stay another night in a hotel, but I just wanted to go home, he says.

He spent Sunday night at a hotel in Arlanda before the drive home to Sundsvall began on Monday.
– I took off my competition suit and showered until I was going to sleep at the hotel anyway. Although after such a long time has passed, it’s not as nice to shower anymore.

Congratulations on your long-awaited victory, William. You did well! Continue on the same track and you have the chance of another WC medal in Trondheim.
