The Swede had to struggle with both skiing and shooting throughout the season and the results were not at all what she had hoped for. After a tough start to the season, Stina was first kicked from the World Cup and had to continue competing in the IBU Cup, the level below the World Cup.

Then Nilsson was also poked from the biathlon World Cup and had to represent Sweden during the biathlon EC instead. There she would reverse the gloomy trend and contribute to an EC bronze in the mixed relay and take an individual fourth place.
