Last year was a single big victory parade for “Mondo” who won double WC gold both indoors and outdoors, European Championship gold outdoors, overall victory in the Diamond League and several new world records to the collection. The new year has started just as grandly for the Swedish world star.

During the indoor season, Duplantis broke a new world record with his mighty jump of 6.22 meters in Clermont-Ferrand, France. When the outdoor season started this weekend, the 23-year-old showed again that he will be hard to stop in 2023 as well.

Mondo & Desire
In difficult conditions in Los Angeles, Mondo managed to win the event at 5.91m but he never got over six meters this time. It was still enough to win in the season debut and continue his long winning streak in the pole vault world.
After the competition, Armand Duplantis took the opportunity to remain in his native USA, where he was born and raised, together with his girlfriend Desire Inglander.
