The MMORPG Star Citizen has not yet been released, but it has a neat new package on offer: The “Legatus 2953” package is available for 53,121 euros and 60 cents. This contains 175 virtual spaceships.
What can you say about the price?
How expensive is that in relation? On Twitter, an American says: The price is three times the annual minimum wage in the USA.
A Spanish site explains: That’s half as much as the Maseratie Grecale GT sports car costs. A small yacht, the Azimut 36 FLY Boat with a length of 11.2 meters, is also available for €90,000. In Spain you earn an average of 22,781 euros – the price of the package is twice the annual salary.
In Germany, the average gross salary is around 49,260 euros (via Wirtschaftswoche) if you work full-time. Even then you couldn’t afford the package.
Shows that the upward spending options are endless
How is this discussed? On Reddit, outside of the Star Citizen bubble, you simply notice how much money it is for “virtual pixels”:

This is how fans discuss it: In the Star Citizen reddit itself, the package is discussed with a little more humor:
