The new Nammi Box electric car – can cost under SEK 200,000

The new Nammi Box electric car can cost under

One of the main reasons why more people do not switch to electric cars is that they are too expensive to buy, while many models have experienced a sharp decrease in value over the past year.

However, the situation is changing. Citroën has recently launched the smallest ë-C3 with a price below SEK 300,000, and brands such as Renault, Fiat and Volkswagen also have models in the works in the same price range.

The new Nammi Box, or 01 as it is also called, is now coming to Europe at an even lower price.

The electric car can cost under SEK 200,000

The Nammi Box is built by the Chinese Dongfeng group, and with a length of just over 4 meters it plays in the same league as the Citroën ë-C3.

In terms of price, however, it beats the French. In Switzerland, where the car can already be ordered, the price tag is 21,990 Swiss francs, corresponding to around SEK 265,000.

Soon the car will also be launched in Norway, where the price tag according to Elbil.no will be 189,000 Norwegian kroner, corresponding to around 184,000 Swedish kronor.

Range of 31 miles

For the super low price, you get a car with four doors and a luggage compartment of 326 litres.

The battery has a capacity of 42.3 kWh, which provides a range of 31 miles. It is fully approved for the class and in line with the European competitors.

On the performance front, however, the Nammi Box is in the lee, with an effect of a modest 70 horsepower.

The electric car will round the EU tariffs

The plan is that the Nammi Box will eventually be launched in more countries in Europe, and if it comes to Sweden, it will be by far the cheapest electric car on the market.

However, whether the car will be launched here is currently unclear.

To get around the tariffs on electric cars from China that were recently introduced in Europe, Dongfeng plans to start up production of the Nammi Box in Italy.

Whatever tricks you use in Europe, you will probably never get down to a price as low as the car has in China. When the car was launched in the home country at the beginning of 2024, the price tag was around SEK 110,000.
