The new music video for the Worlds in LoL is cool, but has too much Linkin Park

Those responsible at Riot Games have presented the anthem for the 2024 World Cup for League of Legends. The song is called “Heavy Is The Crown” and comes from the newly revived cult band Linkin Park.

Where can I see and hear the anthem? You can find the song “Heavy Is The Crown” and the accompanying official music video from Riot Games below. Those familiar with previous League of Legends World Championship anthems will notice both familiar and new elements.

What is known is that the anthem retells the “story” of the previous finals, naturally focusing on the players from the two best teams from last year. So in this case you will see some of the champions of Weibo Gaming and (the winners of) T1.

First a comeback in real life, then an animated premiere

What’s new? While in the past it was greats like Imagine Dragons, Lil Nas X and Zedd who contributed title tracks for LoL, this time “Heavy Is The Crown” comes from Linkin Park. Similar to the official music video for the animated series Arcane, the band members of Linkin Park also appear in animated form in the new World Cup anthem.

In general, the song has been very well received by the community. The video has received a lot of praise, and the upvotes counter will soon exceed 90,000. However, not everyone is happy that the players are somewhat out of focus due to the musicians’ performance.
