The new MMORPG Throne and Liberty officially postpones the release, but also has good news

Throne and Liberty was considered a great hope for 2023 for PC and consoles for many MMORPG fans. The graphics in the trailers were particularly impressive. But the actual release in the first half of the year cannot be kept, as NCSoft has now revealed in a call.

What does NCSoft say? The conference call took place on May 9th, where the Korean company talked about its first quarter of 2023. NCSoft is best known for MMORPGs like Lineage, Aion, but also Guild Wars 2. Especially in the mobile area, revenues fell by almost 50% compared to the previous year, while the PC MMORPGs remained quite stable (via IR Data) .

There was also a bit talked about Throne and Liberty. This should now officially appear in the second half of 2023 – as before in a global version. Analysts had predicted the shift a few weeks ago. However, there is still no exact date.

The developers explained the postponement with various reasons, some of which are also positive for us.

Why is the game being postponed? There should be two primary reasons:

  • Some gameplay systems and monetization should be able to be tested and improved in advance in beta events. However, nothing should change in the scope of the content.
  • There should be more marketing to attract more players to the release.

    • You need more time for both. You can also hear a conflict with Diablo 4 between the lines. For example, it says that you are looking for a way to maximize success in the global market. A release in the same month as Blizzard’s new game would be more of a hindrance.

    When can we play in the west? Another beta will be held in Korea from May 24th to 30th, which requires a Korean phone number to participate. It is currently unclear whether this will have an NDA or whether the testers can speak freely about the experiences.

    After that, a beta will start “soon” in the west – but with a big focus on North America. It is currently not clear whether we can take part in this test without any problems or whether a specific test for Europe will follow.
