ArcheAge 2 (PC, Xbox, PS5) is a new sandbox MMORPG and is scheduled to enter beta in 2024 at the latest. It will be the successor to ArcheAge and relies on many similar elements, but in Unreal Engine 5 and with modern gameplay. Now publisher Kakao Games has revealed new details. The statements about PvP are particularly exciting.
What was said about PvP? In the call for the Q3 2023 quarterly report from Kakao Games, the company revealed that XL Games had primarily developed ArcheAge, an MMORPG for the Korean target group. The successor should now be more oriented towards the West and appear for consoles. That’s why some changes are being made.
There should be more content for PvE and story fans in the game. They are aimed specifically at solo players and small groups. The words dungeons and campaign mode came up.
PvP fans, on the other hand, will have to forego large battles in the open world in the future. They want to remove faction-based large-scale PvP. Instead, ArcheAge 2 relies on targeted GvG battles for fortresses and battles for caravans.
When will we find out more about this? The big reveal of ArcheAge 2 is scheduled to take place at gamescom next year. The individual gameplay elements will be presented in more detail there. The start of the closed beta is also planned for 2024.
The release was originally supposed to take place next year, but that no longer seems to be the case with the big presentation not taking place until August.

Bigger world, more story, fewer features
What do we know about ArcheAge 2 so far? The MMORPG was mentioned for the first time in 2020. At that time it was announced that the game would be developed in Unreal Engine 5 and would contain much of the content from the first part. These include, among others:
Overall, ArcheAge 2 should offer fewer features than its predecessor, but they will be better thought out and more in-depth. The combat system should also be more action-packed. It’s supposed to be a non-target action system in which you have to actively dodge and parry.
In an interview at the end of 2022 it was said that the world of ArcheAge 2 would be around twice as big as its predecessor. You should not only be able to build individual houses, but also entire cities together with other players.
The story, on the other hand, should be smaller, but more in scale. While the first part wanted to prevent the destruction of the world and thematically revolved around gods, the second part aims to focus more on the players’ individual journeys. The overall story focus should also be greater.
What do you think about the content and plans for ArcheAge 2? Does the concept appeal to you?
