It’s the new fashion series everyone’s talking about. Her name ? “The New Look”, a show which will be broadcast on Apple TV and will return to the Parisian fashion world in the 40’s with Chanel and Dior as main characters, played by actors Juliette Binoche and Ben Mendelsohn.
A series on fashion in the 1940s, anyone? Good news: it will be soon on AppleTV. The American company announced on Thursday February 10, 2022 the production of a show entitled The New Look. The action will take place in the Paris of the Occupation and then of the post-war period. The series will relate the beginnings of couturier Christian Dior, who launched his house in 1946 and whose collections gradually eclipsed those of Coco Chanel, a figure of the time. Designed as a real thriller, the show, shot exclusively in Paris, will be inspired by real events and will count Yves Saint LaurentPierre Cardin, Pierre Balmain, Cristóbal Balenciaga or Hubert de Givenchy among his characters.

Title The New Look in homage to Christian Dior’s first collection, so named by an American journalist after the show, the series is produced by Apple Studios. In the screenplay, we find Todd A. Kessler (Bloodline, The Sopranos). To interpret Gabrielle Chanel, it is the French actress Juliette Binoche who was chosen while Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn will play Christian Dior.
