The audience is slowly getting into the Christmas spirit, at least when it comes to the currently most popular films on the streamer Netflix. The rough action drama Sisu has been running there for a few days now, in which a one-man army à la Rambo has to defend itself against a bunch of soldiers. However, the Finnish film couldn’t stay in the top spot for long (although Sisu deserves the winner’s podium).
According to Flixpatrol, a new title is at number 1 in the film charts in 43 countries and it offers an absolute contrast in terms of mood. Meet Me Next Christmas is one cuddly Christmas comedy with a romantic-musical touch.
The new leader at Netflix tells of a race against time
The main character, Layla (Christina Milian), is a great romantic. She meets a stranger (Kofi Siriboe) in a snowstorm and their chemistry is undeniable. Only Layla is still in a relationship. So they make a difference: When they are single in a year, they meet again at a concert by the a cappella group Pentatonix. 12 months later, Layla is actually alone again – but the concert is sold out. Together with the concierge Teddy (Devale Ellis) she goes on a search. A race against time begins – with all the signs of a love triangle.

The role of Layla will be taken on by pop star and actress Christina Milian, who has specialized in romantic comedies in recent years. The reviews for the film have been mixed so far. This is what the Guardian says:
Milian is charming and has good chemistry with Ellis, even if their film often feels less like a romantic comedy and more like a strange Pentatonix commercial or a dangerous Pentatonix drinking game (a shot of eggnog every time someone says Pentatonix will kill you before Christmas).
If you’re not in the holiday or RomCom mood yet, you should give Sisu a chance. The Finnish thriller impresses with economical dialogue, a minimalist revenge story and creative action interludes.
