The Winnipeg Jets’ wild start to the season continued in the NHL with a 6–3 win over the New York Rangers. The team has won 15 of the 16 matches they have played this season.

The new preparation ritual of the NHL club Florida Panthers did not bring success this time.

Florida’s players arrived in Finland at the beginning of November for the matches against the Dallas Stars in bathrobes, carrying a lyölykiulu.

The Panthers won both games and continued their streak in the Americas as well, defeating the Nashville Predators and Philadelphia Flyers last week.

The club also shared pictures of their players in bathrobes before the New Jersey Devils match. The relaxed spawns featured e.g. the team’s Finnish stars Alexander Barkov and Anton Lundell.

The Devils ended the Panthers’ bathrobe winning streak at four games by defeating the Florida team 4-1. In total, the Panthers had won their previous seven games.

Sam Reinhart brought Florida to a 1-1 tie in the second period, but the Devils escaped by Timo Meier, by Paul Cotter and Ondrej Palat’n goals to win.

Barkov got one assist from the match. The Finnish captain, who is cool with a six-game point streak, has now collected 2+11=13 points from eight games.

New Jersey, who played three games less, rose to the top spot in the Eastern Conference after Florida. The club criticized the Panthers’ bathrobe antics on social media after the match.

On X, it shared photos of Florida players in bathrobes emblazoned with large L letters that denote loss.

– We really had to do this for them, the Devils account joked.

Winnipeg in unstoppable momentum

The Winnipeg Jets’ wild start to the season continued with a 6–3 win over the New York Rangers. The team has now won 15 of the 16 games they have played. No other team in the NHL has collected 15 wins as quickly.

15 out of 17 games have been won by the Boston Bruins (in the seasons 2022–2023 and 1929–1930), Ottawa Senators (2007–2008), Buffalo Sabers (2006–2007), Philadelphia Flyers (1985–1986).

As the Jets’ point scorers, they struggled against the Rangers Kyle Connor (2+1), Nikolaj Ehlers (0+2) and Mark Scheifele (2+0). The league’s top scorer Connor Hellebuyck made 33 saves in the Winnipeg goal.

Rangers Kaapo Kako crushed the 3-4 reduction in front of the goal in the third period. The hit was the Finn’s second of the season.
