Transformers 7: That’s what Rise of the Beasts is all about

After the sixth part was set in the 80’s, the latest Transformers movie takes us to the 90’s. Exactly seven years after Bumblebee, museum employee Elena (Dominique Fishback) discovers a mysterious artifact, the Trans-Warp Key. This not only attracts the Autobots, who want to use it to travel back to their home planet, but also the enemy Terrorcons. It’s a good thing that the Transformers get support from the Maximals, who have been living undiscovered on earth as animal-like bots for a long time.

Has the Transformers series been saved?

What was once one of the most financially successful blockbuster film series in Hollywood became more and more of a problem. The films got worse and the income got smaller. The fifth part was considered by many to be the low point of the series, both qualitatively and at the box office (albeit at a high level with over 600 million US dollars) disappointed Transformers 5: The Last Knight.

With the spin-off Bumblebee, Paramount took a completely different direction, dispensing with the Michael Bay martial arts battles so typical of the series and placing an emotional story in the foreground. Despite very good reviews and positive reactions from the audience, Bumblebee made significantly less money than its predecessor.

So director Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) was given the task of making Transformers 7 a second reboot add for the series. He tried the balancing act between the bombastic action of the first five parts and the more emotional tones of the reboot. But he didn’t quite want to succeed. Critics in particular were disappointed, while most fans were positively surprised. However, Rise of the Beasts did not come close to the cinema successes of the older parts.
