It came as a nightmare message for Swedish skiing.
The setback for Frida Karlsson raised concerns ahead of the new season.
But now comes a most welcome message of joy for the 25-year-old.
Just over two weeks ago came the tough news that Frida Karlsson was forced to forego a national team camp and was not ready to go on snow. With only a few weeks left until the long-awaited skiing premiere, it caused great concern and the Swedish star was forced into rehabilitation training.
Karlsson & the Norwegian
Frida was sent to Spanish Tenerife with her mother Mia Karlsson to rebuild the body. Then came a most unexpected visit to the paradise island, see the picture below.
– Yes, she went down there with her mother and spent a week there. It was very calm and pleasant and she tried to rehab. And luckily for her, (Emelie) Fleten and Team Ramudden show up there as well, so she has run a few sessions with them on the stake, says the national team coach Per Nilsson for SVT.
– Cycling, staking and rehab training in the gym are probably what have been the main training for these weeks.

A picture of Frida Karlsson and the Norwegian long-distance star Emelie Fletenwho won the Vasaloppet the last two years, suddenly appeared on Instagram and caused astonishment. But now we have an explanation for the unexpected picture, see it below.
The message about Frida
The time in Tenerife has also yielded results for the Swedish cross-country star, for whom hope is now growing.
– It has gone well, cautiously optimistic. She has enjoyed herself there and has made a clear improvement. She extended her stay there when there were such good training opportunities and stimuli for body and soul, Nilsson says in the interview.
– I think she takes this seriously, that the season is long and the WC is late this year too, so the focus is on that. I think she is smart and feels and discusses with the medical team what is appropriate.

The national team coach does not rule out a possible start during the season opener in Bruksvallarna in just over a week.
– It has not been written off yet, says Per Nilsson to the TV channel about the situation.
– She comes home at the end of the week and gets to test on snow next week, and that’s when you can tell for sure how it goes on skis, which are a little more fun than roller skis.
