NCIS fans are eagerly awaiting the launch of NCIS: Origins. For the first time, the crime franchise is venturing into the past and dedicating an entire prequel series to a character. Over several episodes, the Backstory of Leroy Jethro Gibbs who was originally played by Mark Harmon.
For the new series, Harmon returns only as a narrator. In front of the camera we will see a new, much younger actor: Austin Stowell. Stowell, born in 1984, is still not a very big name. Nevertheless, he was discovered early in his career by a master director: Steven Spielberg.

In Bridge of Spies, the future NCIS star plays US pilot Francis Gary Powersthat actually existed. On May 1, 1960, his plane was shot down. Powers was convicted as a spy by a Soviet military court: ten years in prison, three of them in prison, the rest in a prison camp.

NCIS: Origins starts on October 14, 2024 in the USA on the CBS channel, which also hosts the other series in the crime franchise. It is currently unclear when and how the story of young Gibbs will come to Germany. In the USA, there are also plans to release the episodes of the prequels on the Paramount+ streaming service.
